Short Term Health Insurance

Short term medical insurance provides

  • Coverage for 30-185 days
  • Up to $2 million in coverage

...and is for people who are:

  • Between jobs or laid off
  • Looking for a lower-cost alternative to COBRA
  • Recent college graduates
  • Waiting for employer-sponsored coverage
  • Temporary or seasonal employees

We provide short term medical insurance through two companies, Assurant Health and Allied National. The plans are compared in the table below. Click the button for each company to learn more about their plan, get a quote, or apply for the plan on-line right now.

Who is eligible?

  • Healthy individuals and children through the age of 64
  • Dependent children through the age of 18
  • Foreign residents living in the U.S. for at least one year at the time of enrollment, with proof of Alien Registration Receipt Card, Visa, or other appropriate documentation

Coverage is valid only in:

  • The U.S., its territories, posessions, and Canada

If the $250 or $500 deductible option is selected, a covered person needs to satisfy a deductible before benefits are paid. Families of 3 or more people will only need to satisfy a maximum of three deductibles. This is a one-time deductible during your coverage period. If you are covering dependents there is a maximum of three deductibles per family.

Both plans have additional exclusions not listed here which are fully documented in each policy. Please call us if you have specific questions.

Short Term Medical insurance is often a lower cost alternative to COBRA. To preserve your rights to guaranteed health insurance and coverage for pre-existing conditions, you may need to purchase up to 18 months of COBRA. You may forego these rights when you purchase a Short Term Medical plan or choose to go without insurance.
